MICHAEL ALAN NEW YORK CITY NIGHTCLUB EXPERIENCE
Michael Alan ran and owned nightclubs in New York City from 1994 into the late ’90’s. He owned Michael Alan’s Playhouse from the year 1994-1998. During that time he worked and eventually he created a party called “Sunday School” It was a downtown Manhattan traveling art show that started at the Palladium and ventured to Club Expo, The Tunnel, Remote Lounge in 1999, The Pyramid, Cub 52, Korova Milk Bar, Roxy, and galleries and lofts, etc. This party consisted of artists, mid career or unknown, giving them a stage to perform, hang their art, recite poetry, or play live music. Michael Alan would D.J. and host with some of the most famous, iconic figures in New York. This eventually stopped and he started the New York City Draw-A-Thon where artists were invited to draw nude theatre for 14 hours. Below are some selected nightclub parties and Draw-A-Thons.

It was a downtown thing and all artists kept 100% of the proceeds.
Michael Alan’s Drawathon Theater was held in numerous locations over the years including the Chelsea Art Museum, reBar in Dumbo, Fix Cafe, Kenny Scharf’s Cosmic Cavern, Jack the Pelican presents, Pochron Studios,The Millennium Film Center, Teatro Iati on Theater Row Manhattan, Millennium and La Mama, The Dumbo Arts Festival and The Gershwin Hotel, to name a few.
