Saturday June 14th,

Two ways to attend:

5-6pm EDT - livestream

6-9pm - come in person Greenwich Village

Come in person or livestream a very special memorial for Mama Alien, New York City's greatest art mom. Visit the art family studio where she was cared for by her son Michael Alan Alien and his partner Jadda Cat. The art family would make art together in this creative sanctuary, and Mama Alien took so much joy in showing her son's work. She became a star through her heartwarming curation and viral videos. Her vibe was incredibly uplifting and loving. There was really no one like her.

To celebrate Mama Alien's life, we will look at original drawings and paintings that she collaborated on with her family. Her cute and funny art videos that made her famous on the internet will be shown. See a beautiful montage of photographs of her from her lifetime growing up in Bushwick in the 1930s and 40s, performing at galleries, and recent years as an artist with her family. Check out her room that has been transformed into an art studio shrine where Alien remembers his mother while painting large new works.

Livestream attendees will get a link by email to join from 5-6pm EDT for special viewing just for online viewers. You can also watch the memorial show afterwards.

In person attendees can come anytime between 6-9pm and will receive the studio address by email after signing up.

Read more about Mama Alien here: Mama Alien, also known as Raindrop and Joan, was an 88-year-old native New Yorker who dedicated her life to spreading positivity and helping others. She influenced countless lives across New York City with her kindness, creative spirit, and heartwarming demeanor. For many years, she was a social worker in Jamaica, Queens, tirelessly supporting New Yorkers in need.

During the great blackout of 1977, she gave birth to Michael Alan Alien, who is now a world-renowned artist living and working in NYC. She was an incredible influence on his artwork throughout his career, and in her elder years she became an art star herself through her work with her son and his partner Jadda Cat as an art family. During the pandemic, Alien relocated his art studio to a new space to function as a place of eldercare for Mama Alien and a place of creativity where they make art together. Joan poured her heart into art, creating influential videos as the world's cutest art curator, making public art at Washington Square Park, and spreading positive energy wherever she went.
